Many ABFPRS diplomats are members of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS). The AAFPRS is the largest association of facial plastic and reconstructive surgeons and represents more than 3,000 facial plastic surgeons throughout the world. The AAFPRS accepts as members only those surgeons whose training and experience allows them to focus on plastic surgery of the face, head, and neck. Although AAFPRS and ABFPRS are two separate organizations (AAFPRS is an autonomous professional society whose members are not automatically eligible to complete ABFPRS certification requirements), both are dedicated to the advancement of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.
