The next page gives you a geographical directory of surgeons certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. To achieve certification by this Board, a surgeon must:
- Complete an accredited residency-training program after medical school that provides training in facial plastic surgery
- Achieve previous certification by one or both of the basic boards in the field: The American Board of Plastic Surgery or the American Board of Otolaryngology
- Successfully complete an additional two-day examination focused solely on facial plastic and reconstructive surgery
- Present for peer review at least 100 surgical cases in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery for each of the previous two years
Patients should consider board certification as only one factor in selecting a facial plastic surgeon. Board certification alone does not necessarily indicate competence or compatibility with the patient.
Not all facial plastic surgeons perform all facial plastic surgery procedues. Some further specialize in a narrower range of procedures, such as nose surgery.
Patients have responsibility for selecting their surgeons. The American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery disclaims any warranty or liability with regard to any certificant’s listing in this website or any other website found through the use of this website.
