Now there’s a quote that embodies what the ABFPRS is all about. Since our Board’s very beginning, our diplomates have understood that it will take dedication from all of us as a united specialty to continue to advance recognition of ABFPRS certification.
That dedication is exemplified by diplomates who serve in the ABFPRS committee trenches by writing and editing examination questions, reviewing applications submitted for completion of certification requirements, or fine-tuning policies to reflect current updates necessary to maintain our Board’s standing with state medical boards. And then there are those diplomates who make a difference by volunteering their time, travel, and expenses to serve as examiners and proctors for the all-important ABFPRS examination weekend.
But no matter how much some of our volunteers dedicate time and energy to our Board, the ABFPRS needs ALL of its diplomates to lend their financial support to expand our written and oral examination databanks; continue development of the FACEforward program; and maximize our efforts to upgrade our IT and software programs to ensure a productive internet experience for patients, physicians, providers, and the public. As I’m sure you remember, our Board works hard to keep expenditures low so diplomates don’t have to pay higher dues to keep the ABFPRS on solid financial footing. But we still need to keep funding our programs and diplomate services to maintain, and yes, expand our Board’s legacy. That’s what this letter is all about. I’d like to ask you to make a donation to help keep the ABFPRS’s legacy financially secure for current and future generations of facial plastic surgeons.
All diplomates who donate $500 will be listed in the ABFPRS Diplomate Society and, if they don’t have one already, we’ll add a leaf engraved with their name to the Robert L. Simons Legacy Tree in the ABFPRS Board offices. We will, of course, accept a smaller or a larger donation, but please give as generously as you can this year. We are hoping to achieve $100,000 for our 2025 fundraising goal.
